Becoming a dad can be hard - but you don't have to carry this alone

Support for fathers during pregnancy and early parenthood

In my role with a charity, supporting dads with their perinatal mental health, and as a therapist, I work with men who are experiencing stress, low mood, irritability, a feeling of disconnection and a pressure to keep everything together.

If this sounds familiar then now might be the right time to seek out support.

DO YOU RECOGNISE YOURSELF?

Worry

Constantly worrying about your partner, baby, finances, or the future

Overwhelm

Feeling overwhelmed by the responsibility of balancing family life and work

Guilt

Feeling guilty for struggling when others seem happy

Anger

Becoming more irritable, angry, or withdrawn

YOU'RE NOT ALONE

According to research 1 in 10 fathers experience post natal depression whilst 1 in 8 men will experience either anxiety or depression during the perinatal stage (the lead-up to birth and in the years that follow).

Men are less likely to recognise or discuss their struggles, often expressing distress through withdrawal, anger, overworking, or increased substance use, fear of getting things wrong.

WHY WORK WITH ME?

I understand that many men find it difficult to talk about emotional struggles.

My approach is warm, practical, and non-judgemental and I combine my experience of working with men in both in my private practice and through my role in the charity sector.  As a father myself I also draw upon lived experience in helping men to navigate the challenges of becoming a dad.

I hold a CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and am an accredited registrant member of the NCPS.
