COUNSELLING & PSYCHOTHERAPY IN GODALMING, SURREY
WELCOME
Hello, I’m Paul, a counsellor and psychotherapist based in Godalming, Surrey. From my quiet therapy room I offer in-person and online counselling and psychotherapy to people who are finding life challenging or overwhelming.
I work with people experiencing a range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, low mood, bereavement, relationship difficulties, addiction, life transitions, and low self-esteem. I also support clients who have a diagnosis, or who are exploring the possibility of ADHD or autism, offering a thoughtful and neurodiversity-affirming approach.

ASK FOR HELP."

HOW DOES COUNSELLING HELP?
I deeply value the relationships in my life and hold a strong belief in the healing potential of human connection. Through my work I have seen how supportive relationships can help us navigate life’s challenges with greater understanding and resilience.
We are all shaped by our experiences and relationships, and therapy offers a space to reflect on these experiences and develop a deeper awareness of ourselves. My practice has shown me that when we feel heard, understood, and supported, it can make the journey through life feel less overwhelming.
In my work I aim to help clients better appreciate the way they experience their world, realise greater levels of self-understanding and change how they feel about themselves and their relationships. Therapy can offer not only healthier ways of coping with the past but also an improved ability to deal with the ups and downs that life presents.
MY COUNSELLING OFFER
My approach to therapy is non-directive meaning that I honour your instincts and intuition allowing you to use our time together in a way which makes sense to you. This is informed by a belief in self-actualisation; the idea that we all have a strong desire to heal, move forward and to ultimately lead rich and fulfilling lives.
My intention is to sit along side you on this journey, offering a supportive environment in which you feel ‘held’ and safe to explore your thoughts, feelings and emotions.
I am strongly committed to my ongoing professional development, ensuring that my knowledge and skills remain current and responsive to the needs of my clients. As a member of BACP, I work within the BACP Ethical Framework, maintaining professional standards in my counselling and psychotherapy practice.
I also engage in regular professional supervision, which supports reflective practice and helps ensure that the counselling I offer remains thoughtful, ethical, and of the highest professional standard.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Choosing the right counsellor for you is an important decision. I offer all potential clients a free, 20 minute in-person or online consultation which is an opportunity for you to share with me your needs and expectations, learn about the way I work and, for in-person clients, decide if the location and the room are right for you.
If, following our initial meeting, you decide that you’d like to work together we can arrange a suitable day and time to meet on a weekly basis.
During our first session we'll explore a little more about you, what you’re hoping to achieve from therapy, and to talk about what we both need in order to make the work successful.
We'll talk about contracting, which in many ways offers the foundation for the work ahead, providing a clarity around expectations and helping to give the work we do a real sense of purpose and direction.
Therapy really is a collaborative process and my aim is for our first session to offer a sound basis for our future work together.
TESTIMONIALS
"Thank you for all you have done for me over the past four months. It hasn't been an easy journey for me and I know I'm still on that path. However, I appreciate the time, care and patience you have given me."
